Investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo has warned Nigerians considering irregular migration as a way out of the country’s economic difficulties to be cautious about making the journey through Libya.
Soyombo urged Nigerians seeking better living conditions abroad to understand the risks involved, particularly the harsh realities faced by migrants travelling through irregular routes.
According to the journalist, those hoping to escape economic hardship in Nigeria could end up facing even more difficult and dangerous conditions in Libya.
He cautioned that the promise of a better life abroad does not always match the reality encountered by migrants, particularly those who rely on unsafe and irregular routes.
Soyombo’s warning comes amid continued concerns over the dangers associated with irregular migration, including exploitation, detention, human trafficking and other forms of abuse.
He encouraged Nigerians to carefully consider the risks before embarking on dangerous journeys in search of opportunities outside the country.
