Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, saying he never betrayed the trust Tinubu placed in him despite disagreements over some political decisions.
Gbajabiamila made the remarks on Saturday at his 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, where he also addressed allegations surrounding the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives said the controversy had subjected him to intense scrutiny but maintained that investigations into the matter had been concluded and that the reports were now in the public domain.
Speaking about his longstanding relationship with Tinubu, Gbajabiamila said there had been occasions when the President’s political decisions did not align with his personal wishes, but he chose to remain loyal.
> “In politics, loyalty is the currency we spend the most. I have been with Mr. President for many years and there have been times when his political decisions did not favour my wishes. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then and I remain loyal now.”
Gbajabiamila also said his commitment to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda remained unchanged, adding that the allegations against him would not distract him from carrying out his responsibilities as Chief of Staff.
The PFIPC controversy arose after allegations linked Gbajabiamila to a purported government agency that the Presidency later disowned. Gbajabiamila has consistently denied involvement, while investigative processes, including a House of Representatives probe, examined the allegations.
The empowerment programme, according to Gbajabiamila, was targeted at about 5,000 residents of Surulere, with beneficiaries receiving cash support, vehicles, electric tricycles, buses, security patrol vehicles and an ambulance.
