INEC Fixes September 19 for By-Elections in Four States

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, September 19, 2026, for by-elections in four states across the country.

The affected states are Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta, according to the electoral commission.

The by-elections will be conducted to fill vacant elective positions in the affected constituencies following the emergence of vacancies.

INEC is expected to release further details on the specific constituencies affected, as well as the timetable and guidelines for political parties and candidates participating in the elections.

The commission has also urged political parties, candidates and other stakeholders to comply with the electoral guidelines ahead of the polls.

The September 19 elections will form part of INEC’s efforts to fill vacant seats and ensure that affected constituencies have elected representatives.
