The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Drug Enforcement Authority of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to strengthen cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking.
The agreement is aimed at improving collaboration between Nigeria and the UAE in tackling the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs and other controlled substances.
The MoU is expected to provide a framework for both agencies to enhance the sharing of relevant intelligence, strengthen operational cooperation and support joint efforts against international drug trafficking networks.
The partnership also reflects the growing need for closer cooperation between law enforcement agencies as drug trafficking networks increasingly operate across international borders.
The NDLEA said the agreement would further strengthen Nigeria’s collaboration with the UAE in disrupting the activities of individuals and organised networks involved in the illicit drug trade.
The development is expected to contribute to broader efforts by both countries to prevent drug trafficking and improve cross-border enforcement cooperation.
