BUA Cement has donated ₦12 million to the families of eight people who died in a fatal road accident along the Kajiji–Tambuwal road in Sokoto State.
The company provided ₦1.5 million to each of the eight bereaved families as financial support following the crash, which reportedly involved a commercial minibus carrying 13 passengers and a BUA Cement truck.
The accident claimed eight lives, including that of a child, leaving the affected families and the community in mourning.
As part of its intervention, the company’s management visited the bereaved families in Tambuwal to present the financial assistance and express its condolences.
The visit was accompanied by the District Head of Tambuwal, Alhaji Ahmad Dahiru, and the Chairman of Tambuwal Local Government Area, Abba Shehu Tambuwal.
The traditional ruler and the council chairman commended BUA Cement for supporting the families, noting that the gesture would help ease some of the immediate financial challenges they face following the loss of their loved ones.
They also expressed appreciation to the company, citing reports that the truck was not responsible for the accident. They described the donation as a demonstration of compassion and corporate social responsibility.
Although the financial assistance cannot replace the lives lost, the intervention provides some relief to the affected households as they cope with the tragedy.
The donation highlights the role businesses can play in supporting communities and families affected by road accidents and other emergencies.
