The Comptroller General. Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr. David Shikfu Parradang, has announced that all borders initially scheduled to be opened at midnight (Sunday) today, will now be reopened at noon today March 29, following the extension of voting by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) .
This announcement was contained in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP by the service spokesman, Mr. Chukwuemeka Obua, via telephone.
The statement explained that the the decision by government to reverse the initial directive by twelve hours, was to allow the Nigerian massess the right to vote .
NIS made the decision Saturday night, following hiccups that surrounded Saturdays presidential and National Assembly polls.
Although Paradang hailed the peaceful conduct of
the electorate during the Saturday , March 28, elections, urging them to replicate such during the Sunday elections.
