The Abia State Police Command has
paraded the suspects who allegedly snatched an Mbano, Imo State-based
priest, of his Honda CRV car marked CE 202 MMA.
The suspects were Chukwuma Egwim, 30; Chinedu Linus, 37; and Obinna Orji who police said “can unlock a car with tooth pick.”
While parading the suspects in Umuahia,
the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joshak Habila, said the priest had told
his friend in Aba that the car was removed from where it was parked at
Ihitte – Uboma council area of Imo State.
According to the police chief, the friend alerted the police who used a device installed in the car to track it.
The CP said that the tracking device
indicated that the vehicle was s parked opposite a hotel along
Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Aba.
He said the suspects, he said, were arrested and the vehicle recovered.
In an interview with Saturday PUNCH,
Egwim said Orji sold the car to him for N250, 000 and that he deposited
N150, 000 leaving a balance of N100, 000.
He said he never knew it was a stolen vehicle. But Orji claimed innocence of the offence.
