"We are not here to jubilate, we are not here to celebrate, we are here to offer a strong warning. This local government, in particular, was found wanting in implementation of polio immunization," adding that the warning became necessary as anybody who jokes with the exercise would have himself to blame. He maintained that the Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II has given an assurance that every child in Gezawa and the whole state must be immunized under the watch of traditional leaders, appealing to mothers to ensure their children are vaccinated to guarantee their well being.
"God Almighty has prevented the appearance of the disease for the last one year and if it is our hope and aspiration that the disease does not come back. But it is not all, we have to do a lot of work from now to the next two years to ensure that Polio is completely eradicated in the state and by extension in the country," the governor pointed out.
