The recent verification of the state workforce was meant to inject sanity into the system and engender credibility in our payrolls and not to create unnecessary sufferings to the workers
Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar disclosed this during an interactive session with members of the State Council of the Nigerian Labor Congress, TUC, Joint Negotiation Council, National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Nigeria Medical Association led by the Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Hashimu Muhammad Gital at the Government House, Bauchi.
Governor MA Abubakar explained the verification exercise was essential in view of the dwindling resources of the state government
He further stressed that his administration is doing all it takes to solve, once and for all, the lingering problems surrounding the payment of workers' salaries in the state.
He however said Bauchi state was not lagging behind on the issue of the settlement of workers salary, stressing that his administration is doing all it could to solve the problem of the delay following a garnishee order on the state government's accounts, adding that compared to many other states, Bauchi is not doing badly.
Governor MA Abubakar commended the Nigeria Labor Congress for its support to his administration and called for the sustenance of that support for the development of the state.
At the end of the interactive session, the people's Governor said " I know mistakes were made during the verification exercise and I take responsibility. I apologize".
