  • 3 Lessons Christians can Learn From The Life Of The Apostles
  • Text: Acts 4:13

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13 (NIV).

After the coming of the witness, it became a mandate for the Apostles to carry out the work for which they had been called. They received the witness which witnessed and identified with their spirit to produce supernatural works of faith.

    a. They had a clear knowledge of Jesus (Acts 3:14-17, 17:3).

Many Christians today are still serving the Jesus of their parents. They are still operating under the stories and revelations of others, they are still dwelling under the canopy of other people's experience with Christ. They have failed to have an encounter with God.

Just like Apostle Paul, unless we have an encounter with God on our way to Damascus, we will continue to live in our blindness because the scales will never fall off our eyes.

    b. They knew their inadequacies (Acts 4:23-31, Psa 34:10)

The early church and Apostles knew their shortcomings, they knew they were afraid but one spectacular thing they did was to turn it into a prayer.

They asked God to build on their inadequacies so that they can be bolder.

They asked God to work on their weaknesses.

    c. They knew what they had (Acts 3:4-7, 1 Sam 17:45-46)

One secret to the success of the life of the Apostles and prophets was that they knew what they had. Elijah said if I be a man of God. Apostle Peter said silver or gold I do not have but I give you that which I have i. e the presence of God.

God's presence in us distinguishes us from others. Identify that which you have.

Remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of a sound mind. If we know him then we can surrender to him.

    Jesus loves you.
