According to Punch, the baby boy was found alive, by a good Samaritan with an intact umbilical cord, near an uncompleted building. The Samaritan consequently drew the attention of the ward head in the area to the discovery.

The Jam-bango as the ward head is addressed later reported the incident to the police at the GRA.

The baby boy was then removed from where he was abandoned and taken to the police Social Welfare unit for care pending the discovery of his mother.

The spokesman for the state police Command, DSP Gambo Isah, confirmed the development. He revealed that the police have already launched a manhunt for the mother of the abandoned baby.

He said, “Yes, it is true that a baby boy was abandoned and he is currently at the Social Welfare unit for upkeep pending the time we find his mother.

“Full investigation is however on to track down the mother.”

In a similar development, three suspected cattle rustlers have been arrested by the police at Bakori town while no fewer than forty-two cows, fourteen sheep and nine goats were recovered from them (the rustlers).

Dsp Isah, who confirmed the development, said the arrest of the cattle rustlers followed a tip-off by members of the community.

He pleaded for members of the public to always supply information on the activities of criminals to the police, pointing out that doing this will assist in the police efforts at riding the state of criminals
