  • Man impersonates Lagos deputy governor on Facebook, dupes victim of N1 million

    The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned 45-year-old Adamu Aminu, who allegedly impersonated the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Idiat Adebule, on Facebook, before an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court.
    Adamu who fraudulently obtained the sum of N1m from one Mr. Bright Obed on the pretext of soliciting funds for an orphanage in Agege, allegedly set up by the deputy governor, is facing a four-count of impersonation, conspiracy, false pretence and fraud.
    The suspect who reportedly committed the offences in Agege area of Lagos sometime in August, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
    Adamu was accused of using the Facebook account to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public,  impersonating the deputy governor by calling and sending SMS on a mobile number, 09064583091, before he was tracked down by the Police,
    He was however granted bail of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum, by Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja.
