  • Albums/EPs From By Igbo Artistes Worth Listening To - Abajamz
  •  In no particular order, I bring to you a list containing body of works from south east artistes you should add to your playlist if they are missing,

    1. Elveektor - Nsibidi 2
Nsibidi 2 is the second edition of pure and undiluted music project from rapper, Elveektor and veteran music producer CHx. All tracks produced by CHx. Mixed
    and mastered by John Deux
ELVeektor uses Nsibidi 2 to tell the story of the resilient modern Igbo mentality by building from two points of pain, which now form part of the Igbo
aesthetic. Call it justification, if you will. The most important thing is the documentation oozes.
Igbo Landing was the 1803 mass suicide by Igbo men in Dunbar Creek, Pennsylvania, America. Instead of submitting to a life of slavery for themselves and
their children, they ended their own lives in a fit of bravery, informed by a strong sense of self-esteem and self-awareness.
The rapper also talked about the Asaba massacre that happened during the Nigeria civil war on the album, the hustling/business spirit of the Igbos, the
struggle of the sovereign state of Biafra and the marginalization of the Igbo tribe are other topics discussed on the Ep.
Nsibidi 2 made it to the top 5 albums of Nigeria itunes chart on the first week of dropping (a record by an independent artiste) with igbo Celebrities like
Don jazzy, Emeka Tuwantu and others all supporting the album with post on their social media pages.
'Igbo landing' a track of the album which featured BosaLin, is still receiving massive airplays across radio stations in the south east.
Other artistes featured on the project include Barzini, Dr Jayy, Ife and Ben Anansi.
with 7.7/10 rating by pulse, is another confirmation of the album's credibility and quality.

    2. Jaywillz - P.U.N (Please Underrate Nobody)
Jaywilz started his music career in lagos and has worked with artiste like Hype MC, illbliss, Kezyklef, Oga Micky, Gteck, Zoro, Mr Raw and many others.

The next rated Afro-pop star Jaywillz extended play christened “PUN”. An acronym for “Please Underrate Nobody”, is a body of work worth listening to.
The Chaado Music artiste makes an impressive outing with a 7-track set which houses production from Kezyklef, Poposky, Sugar Beat, Insane Chips and Vyky Reign.
    The E.P
also boats stellar engineering form MixxMonsta (Selebobo), Swaps, Freeze, BrainMix and NotMix.

“PUN” arrives after Jaywillz garnered a massive following with his sugary single Senorita housed on his praised “Rollboy” extended play and joining Zoro on
    the studded “Christmas Freestyle”.

Already a household name in the Eastern part of Nigeria, the E.P sees Jaywillz shoot for continental stardom. “PUN” is available on all music stores and platforms, gaining over 2 million total streams in all platform.

    3. IPTW (bunna) - Genesis

Chibunna John known musically as Iptw (bunna) is a Nigerian-American rapper who took the bull by the horn gaining success with singles Like 'Song for mom',

The 10track LP features MTN Project Fame Finalist Leo Saint, female rapper ZY and other acts like Wiffer, Jo’Em, and Moquel and was produced entirely by
    Yamazanda.

IPTW (Bunna) goes hardcore most times with a finite Afro fused in by the featured artists, the album talks about love, hate, gangster life, and survival in the street.

    4. Chiké - Boo of the Booless
If you know about chike, pardon me, I dropped it here for the benefit of those who is yet to here him, Big Brother Naija fans have already seen him perform in the Saturday night party a fortnight ago.
Chike-Ezekpeazu Osebuka (born 28 January 1993) popularly known by his stage name CHIKE is a singer, songwriter and actor known for his participation on the Nigerian reality competition Project Fame West Africa in 2015 and also in the talent competition TV show The Voice Nigeria Season 1 finishing runner-up on the show.

It became the most listened and number 1 album on
19th February 2020 and hasn't gone below the Top 10 Albums on Apple Music since then.
The Album got 9.8/10 rating on Pulse ng Album review.
Boo of The Booless is bold statement by Chike that he is here to stay, coming  collaboration by artiste like zoro, MI, and Ric Hassani.
Though the album doesn't contain any bad song but the best of the best on the album include 'Roju, Nakupenda,
Watching over me, Soldier, Beautiful People,Forever and any other song you like.

    5. 2blac  - The Underground G.O.A.T. (TooBlac)
2blac also know as Udoakpuenyi 2020 EP ' The Underground G.O.A.T' to me is clearly the most Underrated rap EP in the south east. The ability of the rapper sticking to
his native Owerri dialect entails the fact his is original. The fact that he switched lines with English and Igbo throughout the album is another point to prove the quality work inputed on the body of work.
The Underground G.O.A.T is an EP for the past,
present and future with tracks talking about happenings in owerri and South east in a whole.

    6. Jeriq - Hood Boy Dreams
Don't miss quote me if I call Jeriq the Igbo version of Erigga because of his ability to drop, the truth about life without fear.
He has already collaborated with many Igbo rappers which include Tidinz, Quincy, Lucy Q, Bshine and most recently with Zoro on 'No Nleka, which was accoumpained with a music video.
The talented Nigeria rapper/hip hop artiste released his highly anticipated music project, “Hood Boy Dreams” (HBD) The EP on the 6th of March 2020.

The “Hood Boy Dreams“ is a 6 track EP that tells The Story Of A Street Boy And His Dreams. This Project Is Strictly Made For The Streets By The Voice Of The Streets And No Apology Is Rendered If You Can’t Relate To The O.t Of The Streets.
Hood Boy Dreams currently have 1.3m streams on popular music platform AudioMack.

    7. Cheque - Razor
Cheque Born Akanbi Bamidele Brett is a super talented Nigerian singer, rapper and Chemical Engineering graduate that hails from Ondo State (but he is
included in this list because he signed by Phyno and majority of his fans are Igbos).

Following the announcement by Phyno about a year ago to signing, subsequent feature on ‘Recognize’ (off Phyno's third studio album Deal With it) and release of his impressive verse in ‘Warlords’ by Olamide, exciting and emerging Nigerian rapper CHEQUE kicked start 2020 with his first single – ‘SATISFIED‘, a syrupy and hit potential record released via Penthauze Records imprint. Produced by Masterkraft, his new single ‘Satisfied’ sees Cheque in his glorious form as a versatile musician.
He waxes lyrical about deserving satisfaction from the opposite gender, using his smooth delivery and catchy flow to great effect.
His delivery on the Swaps-mixed ‘Satisfied’ shows unforgettable cadence, right until he brings the track to the perfect crescendo.

After the success of his debut single – ‘Satisfied‘, Cheque follows it up with the release of his debut music project (Body of Work) titled “Razor” The EP.

The EP is a 5 track body of work with no feature (guest artiste).
Already gaining 3.2M streams on Audiomack.

If you have listened any of the EP, talk about it.
If you think that I didn't mention an EP/Album by an Igbo artiste drop the AudioMack/soundclod/applemusic/spotify link on the comment box let me check it, I might mention it on the second edition of this series
