  •

“Train hard for years so you can become an overnight success.”

One of the most interesting teams at the Red Bull Neymar Jrs Five which was concluded in April, was Holy Sons. Their overnight success embodied what we all hope will happen to us. Satisfying victory after trying so hard.

Before the Red Bull Neymar Jrs Five tournament in 2022, Holy Sons had competed in previous editions and lost.

The team which is made up of six, is based in Lagos, got as far as the quarter finals in 2019 and 2021. Holy Sons, started off with the name 96 Champions defeated 4 teams before qualifying for the National finals.

Their previous experience shone as they played with skill, and dominated the National finals.

At the final match, they faced off against an equally skilled team. Kaizer FC.

Kaizer FC was an equally skilled team who had a high stake in this tournament.

Holy sons however, proved more at an advantage given their years of experience and dominated from the first whistle to the end. They outplayed Kaizer FC to win with a total score of 5 goals to none.

All members of holy sons are aspiring professional players who want to play football at the biggest level in Europe and around the world.

Clinching this ticket to represent Nigeria in Qatar is a steppingstone for us. By God’s grace we will be winners in Qatar.

Following their victory and new status as Nigeria’s national champions, they will now get the chance to face the global team of Neymar Jr in Quatar.
