Anambra Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has dismissed eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security Outfit after they brutally assaulted and publicly stripped a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Jennifer Elobor
The announcement was made on Wednesday by Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, who said the operatives would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
Emeakayi said the operatives’ actions were “totally outside the mandate of the agency and utterly condemnable.” He stressed that the Soludo administration will not tolerate unprofessionalism, brutality, or abuse of office by security personnel and that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face immediate dismissal and prosecution. The state government has settled Elobor’s medical bills, replaced her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone, and issued a formal apology to her family, the NYSC, and the public.
The incident took place in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area. A video shared by The Haven360 Foundation shows more than five fully armed vigilantes storming the corps members’ lodge, accusing Elobor and her colleagues of being internet fraudsters despite presenting valid NYSC identification cards and uniforms.
In the video, the operatives violently beat Elobor, tore her clothes, and stripped her naked while she cried for help. Her colleagues and other eyewitnesses pleaded for the assault to stop.
The attack has sparked nationwide outrage, with rights groups demanding prosecution of the perpetrators. Emeakayi described the assault as “unfortunate and unacceptable” and confirmed that those responsible have been arrested and are under investigation.
