  • FG lists federal hospitals where dialysis costs ₦12,000
  •

The Federal Government has said patients in the Northwest are not excluded from its kidney dialysis subsidy scheme

The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, in a statement released on Wednesday, was reacting to reports suggesting otherwise, clarifying that the initiative is already being piloted in 11 federal tertiary health institutions across the country.

The statement was signed by the Deputy Director/Head, Information & Public Relations, Alaba Balogun.

“Under the scheme, the cost of a dialysis session has been reduced from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000.

“This initiative, driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda, is part of the administration’s deliberate effort to provide relief for patients with kidney-related diseases while expanding access to universal health coverage,” he said.

Below is the full list of hospitals where the subsidy is currently in effect:

    Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital
    University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital
Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital
    University of Jos Teaching Hospital

    University College Hospital, Ibadan
    University of Benin Teaching Hospital

“The Ministry emphasises that the Northwest is not excluded. This pilot phase will be expanded to cover more Federal hospitals across the country in due course, ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind in accessing life-saving dialysis services,” he added.
