Hon. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso has officially broken his silence on the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu following the court’s final judgment, explaining why he had refrained from public commentary until now.
In a statement released alongside a video interview and documentary, Anyaso clarified that it would have been subjudice and contemptuous to speak on an ongoing court matter.
According to him, responsible citizens must respect judicial processes, even when emotions are high.
Now that the case has been concluded and a sentence delivered, Hon. Anyaso says it has become both legally appropriate and morally necessary to speak out.
He joins millions of Nigerians in appealing to the President to exercise constitutional powers and grant an Executive Pardon to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
He emphasized that this call is beyond politics, beyond tribe, and rooted in the urgent need for peace, healing, and stability in the South East.
“Our Region Deserves Peace and Progress” — Anyaso
Anyaso stressed that releasing Kanu will help douse tension, promote dialogue, and reopen channels for reconciliation.
He revealed he has spent recent days in his hometown meeting with various factions, including attending the burial of comedian Ushbebe’s grandmother. He noted that Seyi Vodi, a Yoruba man, journeyed all the way to Isuikwuato, Abia State, while several others stayed away due to insecurity fears.
“This is exactly why I am begging our people: do not escalate the situation. Let us allow room for a political solution,” he stated.
A Call for Calm and Unity
Hon. Anyaso reaffirmed his commitment to:
- Peace
- Justice
- Unity
- A prosperous Nigeria
He urged citizens to continue praying and working toward a peaceful resolution, stressing that the South East deserves stability and development.
Signed,
Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso
