  • Heartwarming Encounter: Woman Shares Touching Story of a Helpful Student She Met on a Bus Journey

  • A Facebook user, Chidinma Akpamgbo, has shared a moving story of kindness, gratitude, and unexpected blessings after a chance encounter with a young student during a bus trip from Port Harcourt to Enugu.

According to her, she boarded an RTC bus without paying much attention to fellow passengers until a young man beside her politely asked to see the title of the book she was reading — a work by the renowned Dr. Myles Munroe. She showed him the book and continued reading, unaware that the encounter would leave a lasting impression.

When they arrived at the final destination in Enugu, Chidinma struggled to find her way to the hotel she had booked. The young man, whom she later identified as Prince, immediately offered to help. He moved her luggage to a secure spot and explained that he was heading back to school, which she suspected after seeing the foodstuffs he was traveling with.

Prince went out of his way to help her secure a fairly priced Keke ride to her hotel. He negotiated with several drivers before settling on one, insisting she sit and relax while he handled it to avoid her being overcharged. During their ride, she learned that he was a 300-level Mechanical Engineering student from Ebonyi State, living with his parents in Port Harcourt.

Chidinma, who described herself as a reformist, offered Prince some words of advice and even told him about her family’s automobile workshop in Port Harcourt, encouraging him to practice there during school holidays — an opportunity he gladly welcomed.

When they reached the hotel gate, Prince helped with her luggage again. They exchanged contacts, and she informed him she planned to share the story online. He smiled and responded, “No problem, ma.”

However, the most touching moment came when it was time to pay the Keke fare. Though the price was higher than she expected, she quietly transferred the fare and instructed the driver to give the extra money to Prince as a token for being so helpful.

Prince was visibly shocked and extremely grateful. What he didn’t know was that after the transfer, Chidinma had only ₦2,000 left in that account. She admitted she had spent heavily on a certification exam and induction, but her spirit strongly urged her to help him — and she obeyed.

Later that same evening, she received over ten times the amount she gave out, from an unexpected source, a gesture she described as deeply emotional and affirming.

Any seed sown, whether good or bad, comes back to you. Sow with caution,” she wrote.

Prince called her upon safely arriving at school, and again the next morning just to greet her. Although she dislikes frequent calls, she appreciated his sincerity and expressed her intention to follow up on his academic journey. She hopes to see him again when he returns home for holidays.

Chidinma concluded her post with a reminder:

    > “Always show random acts of kindness, especially to people you barely know.”

She described the encounter as one of the highlights of her trip to Enugu — and believes many more moments like this are still ahead.
