A shocking incident in Egypt has left residents of Ismailia Governorate in disbelief after a 13-year-old boy confessed to killing and dismembering his classmate out of curiosity and influence from horror films and violent video games.
According to reports, the suspect, identified as Yousef A., lured his classmate, Mohamed A. M., to his family home in Ismailia, where he struck him repeatedly on the head with a wooden stick until he died. The boy then used a power saw to cut the victim’s body into small pieces — reportedly small enough to fit into his school bag.
Authorities were alerted after human remains were discovered near a shopping center. Following investigations, police recovered additional body parts under a bridge, in a pool, and scattered across open fields in the area.
During interrogation, the young suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he was attempting to replicate violent scenes he had watched in movies and online games. He also admitted to consuming part of the victim’s flesh “out of curiosity,” disturbingly describing the taste as similar to breaded chicken.
Police later took the teenage suspect through various locations across the city, where he reenacted how he disposed of the victim’s remains. An autopsy confirmed the cause of death and identified the tools used in the gruesome act.
Thousands of mourners gathered at Al-Mutafi Mosque to pray for the victim before he was laid to rest in his family cemetery in Kassab.
The suspect has been detained by public prosecutors for four days pending investigation and was later transferred to a juvenile care facility, where he remains while his case is under review.
This deeply disturbing case has sparked widespread outrage and renewed calls for parental supervision over children’s exposure to violent media content.
May the soul of young Mohamed rest in peace.
