A serious incident involving two underage boys has caused shock and concern in a residential estate, after a resident identified as Precious Obianuju Edwin reported finding the children engaged in inappropriate behaviour allegedly influenced by a cartoon.

According to her account, the boys—aged about 8/9 years and 7 years and who attend the same school—were discovered at the backyard early on Monday morning. She said she had gone out to spread her laundry when she unexpectedly met the minors in a compromising situation.

What further alarmed her, she revealed, was the behaviour of a male NYSC corps member living in the compound who had also seen the children but allegedly recorded the incident on his phone instead of intervening.

“I called their parents immediately,” she wrote. “The father of the younger boy checked the corps member’s phone and discovered that this was not the first time he had recorded them.”

The parents were said to be extremely shocked by the discovery, with both children reportedly breaking down in tears as they were taken indoors for questioning and discipline.

During questioning, the 7-year-old boy allegedly mentioned that he learned the act from a cartoon he had been watching, sparking further debate about unsupervised children’s media consumption.

The fathers have reportedly expressed intentions to involve the police over the corps member’s conduct.

Precious concluded her post with a strong appeal to parents:

“Please, if you cannot sit and watch what your children are viewing, do not let them watch it alone. The society is already facing enough challenges—let us not add to it.”

The incident has ignited conversations online about parental supervision, inappropriate content accessible to children, and the responsibilities of adults when witnessing misconduct involving minors.
