A touching incident at Winners Chapel has stirred compassion after a concerned church member shared the heartbreaking story of a young boy battling a serious eye condition since childhood.
According to the eyewitness, the boy was spotted after service, huddled with his mates near the Hospitality Unit. But something wasn’t right.
“His Eyes Looked Scalded… He Couldn’t See Well”
The observer noticed the boy’s head moving strangely as he squinted repeatedly. Drawing closer, he realized the child was struggling to see — his eyes appeared damaged, and he had to strain intensely just to focus.
Alarmed, he asked to meet the boy’s mother, who was serving in the Children’s Department. She confirmed the sad truth:
Her son’s eye condition started early in his childhood
It has worsened over the years
She has been helpless due to financial limitations
The situation, he said, broke him.
Swift Response — But More Help Is Needed
Knowing a top ophthalmologist in Port Harcourt — the owner of The Eye Surgery & Laser Centre — he immediately reached out. She agreed to examine the boy without hesitation.
He paid the consultation fee, and the boy was taken for evaluation. While in Owerri with his father yesterday, he received video updates from the doctor on their visit.
However, the journey to recovery is long and costly.

The Good Samaritan explained that several tests and treatments will be required — none of which are cheap. He fears the boy may lose his sight if care is delayed.
He described the boy as intelligent and full of potential, insisting that his future depends on restoring his vision.
