A viral incident involving the owner of Bayuz TV has sparked massive reactions online after a charity outreach took a shocking twist over something as simple as saying thank you.
According to reports, Bayuz TV, who is known for doing charity just like popular content creator Asherkine, had gone out for his usual humanitarian outreach when he met a woman who sells buns. He approached her, asked how much all her buns would cost, and she told him ₦10,000. He immediately paid for everything, distributed the buns to people around, and then gifted the woman an additional ₦50,000, making it ₦60,000 in total.
But that was just the beginning.
He went further to take the woman shopping, buying clothes, food items, provisions and other household needs worth about ₦564,000. Shockingly, throughout the entire period, the woman reportedly did not say thank you even once.
Despite that, she still went ahead to ask him to help her buy tubers of yam and palm oil. He obliged again, bought them, and personally drove her to her house to offload everything.
That was when things escalated.
After delivering all the items, Bayuz TV jokingly reminded her that she had not even said thank you. The woman allegedly replied that he should not worry, that she would only thank him after he left, so she could tell her people about it.
Feeling disrespected and unappreciated, the philanthropist became upset. He told her that many people desperately needed such help and that gratitude costs nothing. He eventually took back all the items he had bought for her, except he still gave her an additional ₦50,000, making her total cash gift ₦110,000, before driving off and sharing the items to strangers on the road.
The incident has since stirred heated debate online.
While some people believe the man overreacted and that some people simply don’t know how to express appreciation even when they are truly grateful, others argue that the woman planned to claim full credit and brag in her neighbourhood, which explains why she wanted him to leave first.
