A Nigerian lady, Chiamaka Silas, has shared a heartbreaking story in memory of her younger brother, popularly known as Aboy, who tragically lost his life on December 31, 2024, after a sudden incident believed to be electrocution.
According to Chiamaka, that day started like every other normal day. Their father had checked on everyone before leaving for work at about 7am, while their mother left for the market by 8:30am to shop for New Year celebrations. In his usual generous nature, Aboy gave her money to buy fireworks, drinks, and other celebration items for the New Year crossover.
At about 10:30am, he called his mother, reminding her to buy an extension socket so he could plug his fridge and chill the drinks. Unfortunately, she forgot, and he later sent their house help to get one. Due to a failed bank alert, the seller didn’t release the extension, forcing him to go himself. Determined to ensure everyone enjoyed New Year’s Eve, he went to the market and returned around 1pm with the extension.
Moments earlier, he had joyfully thrown a few fireworks out of excitement for the crossover celebration. Later, he went to fix his fridge to cool the drinks.
Sadly, at 2pm, tragedy struck.
The family heard a terrifying scream from his apartment. By the time they rushed to the scene, he was already lying unconscious with the new extension on his chest. His mother held him tightly, calling his name repeatedly, but he took his last breath in her arms.
His father immediately rushed him from hospital to hospital, but four medical facilities pronounced him dead on arrival. Even after that, the devastated family took him home, hoping and praying for a miracle.
He was just 26 years old.
The family has struggled deeply since the tragedy. Their father’s health reportedly deteriorated, and their mother has never remained the same emotionally. Chiamaka says the entire family is shattered beyond words, still unable to accept that a vibrant, peaceful, loving young man is gone without being sick or showing any sign of illness beforehand.
She described him as kind-hearted, quiet, humble, and deeply loved by everyone who knew him.
Chiamaka ended her tribute with a painful prayer, asking God to never allow any family experience such tragedy again.
“There is no pain deeper than losing someone you love, especially a child so full of life. May we never lose anyone dear to us this 2026 and beyond. Chineke Biko, Ozomena.”
May his soul continue to rest in peace. ๐️๐
