Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, is reportedly set to assume the role of Nigeria’s Minister of Defence following the sudden resignation of Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar on Monday night.
According to reliable government sources, General Musa was at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday evening where he met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in what has now been confirmed as his first official engagement with the President since his retirement from service on October 24, 2025.
Insiders disclosed that during the closed-door meeting, President Tinubu informed the retired military chief of his decision to appoint him as the new Minister of Defence, a move seen as strategic amid ongoing national security concerns.
General Christopher Musa, known for his extensive experience and leadership in Nigeria’s military operations, is expected to bring a renewed approach to defence administration as the country continues to battle insecurity across several regions.
