Nigerian singer Kcee has finally spoken openly about the long-rumoured rift between him and highlife star Flavour, giving fans fresh insight into the root of the tension.
Speaking during an interview on Yanga FM, Kcee revisited the early days of both artists’ careers and revealed that music executive Soso Soberekon once brought Flavour to him for a possible record deal. According to Kcee, he declined the offer because he couldn't foresee Flavour’s future potential at the time.
In his words:
“Person wey Soso bring make I sign? I don dey drive Hummer, Navigator, dey ball before im from East come. I was a freaking big boy… I say I no wan sign because I no see the future at that point. Time go tell.”
Kcee made it clear that the decision was never based on personal issues, but simply on what he could assess at that stage of his career. He also addressed those who claim he has been trying to compete with Flavour, insisting that this narrative is driven by what he described as a “superiority complex” among some colleagues in the industry.
The Limpopo crooner explained that many people tend to underrate him because of his humility and his decision not to flaunt his wealth or achievements online.
“The truth is that when some people had written you off, hoping you would be stagnant, and you work hard and get to a level they didn’t expect, that’s when the issues start,” he said.
Kcee emphasized that he had already built a successful brand and was living an affluent lifestyle long before Flavour’s rise to fame and eventual move to Lagos. According to him, the perceived tension did not arise from the rejected deal, but from colleagues who underestimated his longevity and success in the music industry.
This new revelation adds another layer to the long-standing speculations, giving fans a clearer picture of what may have fueled the alleged rift between both stars.
