The Kebbi State Police Command has provided clarification on the explosion that occurred at the General Hospital, Bagudo, on December 30, 2025, debunking reports linking the incident to a bomb blast or helicopter activity.
According to an official statement, investigations conducted by the Police Command, alongside EOD-CBRN experts and the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team, confirmed that the explosion was triggered by an inferno resulting from overheated air-conditioning and refrigerator gas cylinders, not an explosive device.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman Anisma, urged members of the public to disregard misleading narratives circulating on social media. He advised residents and the media to rely strictly on verified information from the Police to avoid unnecessary panic.
He further assured the public that no lives were lost and no casualties were recorded during the incident. The Command also stated that adequate preventive measures have been put in place to avert any similar occurrence, stressing that the situation remains fully under control.
The Kebbi State Police Command called on residents to remain calm and cooperative as normalcy has since been restored in the affected area..
