  • Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Stepbrother Over ₦4,000 Debt in Ogun State

  • A man identified as Lekan Lasisi has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly shooting and killing his stepbrother during a dispute over a ₦4,000 debt.

The tragic incident happened on December 19, 2025, at Abule Tuntun in the Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.

According to reports, the disagreement began after constant complaints from creditors over the deceased’s unpaid debts. In a viral interrogation video released online on December 29, 2025, Lasisi admitted that persistent pressure from the creditors triggered heated arguments between him and his stepbrother.

He narrated that the confrontation escalated when the deceased allegedly attacked him with a cutlass, forcing him to reach for his gun. Lasisi claimed the gun discharged accidentally, leading to his stepbrother’s death.

“I am a hunter. He drinks a lot and behaves in ways that always cause trouble. On the day of the incident, I confronted him because another creditor complained again. He brought out a cutlass, so I brought out my rifle. It mistakenly discharged. I never intended to kill him,” he said.

The suspect further stated that his late stepbrother had gone to the market earlier that day, where fresh complaints about unpaid debts resurfaced, leading to yet another confrontation and eventually the fatal encounter.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed his arrest and investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
