Nigeria has retained its position as Africa’s most populous country, according to recent population estimates that highlight the continent’s rapidly growing demographic profile.
With an estimated 237.5 million people, Nigeria remains far ahead of other African nations, reinforcing its status as the continent’s largest population hub and one of the most populous countries globally.
Ethiopia follows in second place with about 135.4 million people, while Egypt ranks third at 118.3 million. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) occupies fourth position with an estimated population of 112.8 million, reflecting steady population growth across Central Africa.
East and Southern Africa also feature prominently on the list, with Tanzania and South Africa ranking fifth and sixth respectively.
