Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 13 Brigade, operating from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Ikang, have successfully rescued eight kidnapped civilians after responding swiftly to a distress call along the Ikang–Cameroon waterways on December 29, 2025.
According to military authorities, the troops immediately launched a coordinated rescue mission after receiving intelligence about the abduction. Their timely intervention led to the safe recovery of all eight victims without reports of casualties.
Security sources disclosed that the rescue operation was executed with precision, demonstrating the army’s continued commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining security across border communities and waterways frequently targeted by criminal elements.
The Nigerian Army has reiterated its resolve to intensify efforts against kidnapping, illegal activities on waterways, and other forms of insecurity in the region.
