27 Sarz – Protect Sarz At All Costs (Nigeria)
The super-producer finally dropped his long-awaited debut album and it’s a masterpiece of Afrobeats evolution, alté vibes, and genre-bending brilliance. Rolling Stone called it “the blueprint for the next decade of African music.”
37 Amaarae – Black Star (Ghana)
Amaarae keeps pushing boundaries. The follow-up to Fountain Baby is bolder, weirder, and more addictive. RS says it’s “pop music from another planet — one we all want to live on.”
73 Davido – 5IVE (Nigeria)
OBO delivered his most focused and mature body of work yet. From street anthems to global collaborations, 5IVE solidified Davido as Africa’s biggest export. “Timeless was just the warm-up,” one RS writer noted.
88 Fola – Catharsis (Nigeria)
The biggest surprise on the list! Rising alté-R&B star Fola’s deeply personal Catharsis stunned critics with its raw emotion and sonic experimentation. Rolling Stone hailed the Lagos-based artist as “the future voice of African vulnerability.”
