  • AGONY AS WOMAN GOES MISSING AFTER VISITING BOYFRIEND IN EPE, FAMILY SEEKS JUSTICE

  • Concern has continued to mount over the mysterious disappearance of Ms. Comfort Uwakwe, who has been missing for nearly three months after travelling to Epe, Lagos State, to visit her boyfriend.

Comfort, a native of Owalla Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, was last heard from on October 25, 2025. She resided at 1, Olusegun Close, off Eliasau Street, Mafolokun, Oshodi, Lagos, before her disappearance.

According to information made available by members of the Owalla Town Development Union (OTDU), Lagos branch, Comfort travelled to Epe to visit a male friend identified as Olajide Akeushola. Upon arrival, she reportedly contacted her female friend, Ifeoma, to confirm she had reached her destination and met the person she went to see.

However, later that same night at about 10:08 p.m., Comfort reportedly made a distress call, stating that she had been locked inside a room and was in danger. Shortly after the call, her phone went off, and all efforts to reach her since then have been unsuccessful.

On October 27, 2025, her family reported her missing at the Makinde Police Station in Oshodi. Although an Investigating Police Officer (IPO) was assigned to the case, the family was advised to proceed to the Epe Police Station since Comfort was last seen in Epe. However, upon getting to Epe, they were reportedly referred back to Makinde Police Station.

Investigations formally commenced on October 28, 2025, and about a month later, on November 26, 2025, Comfort’s boyfriend, Olajide Akeushola, was arrested in Epe. He was subsequently transferred to the Lagos State Police Command Special Squad in Ikeja on November 28, where another IPO was assigned to the case.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted meeting Comfort on the day she went missing. He claimed they consumed alcohol together and that she became tipsy, prompting him to lock her inside a hotel room. He further alleged that she later had an accident along the Epe highway, where she was crushed by a trailer.

Police authorities later disclosed that they were taken by the suspect to the alleged accident scene, where a human leg was recovered about one month after the supposed incident. The leg was said to be the only remains linked to Comfort.

However, the family strongly disputed this claim after seeing photographs of the recovered leg, insisting that it did not belong to Comfort. This disagreement reportedly led the police to propose an autopsy and DNA test, with the family asked to bear the cost.

The situation has sparked widespread concern and raised several unanswered questions among family members and community leaders. These include doubts about the identity of the recovered leg, the absence of other body parts, and inconsistencies in the suspect’s account of events. The family is also questioning how Comfort could have escaped from a locked hotel room to the highway, whether hotel staff have been questioned, and why the alleged accident scene remained undisturbed for weeks.

There are also growing calls for the police to explore other possible angles, including foul play, rather than relying solely on the accident narrative.

In a statement signed by the President of the Owalla Town Development Union, Lagos branch, Chiedozie Nzeh, the group appealed to the public and relevant authorities to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation in the interest of justice.

“This development has traumatized the family and left many critical questions unanswered. We are calling on the authorities to carry out due diligence and ensure that the truth is uncovered,” the statement read.

Members of the public with useful information regarding the whereabouts of Ms. Comfort Uwakwe are urged to report to the nearest police station or contact the following numbers: 0913 061 0045 or 0706 290 3832.
