  • “Stop Addressing Me as ‘Bro’ or ‘Blood’,” 22-Year-Old Ondo Monarch Warns Public
  • L

The palace of the Arujale-Ojime of Okeluse Kingdom in Ondo State has issued a stern warning to members of the public over what it described as disrespectful forms of address directed at the monarch.

In a statement released on Friday, the Chief of Staff to the Arujale-Ojime, Prince Adefemi Olorunfemi, made it clear that the 22-year-old traditional ruler, Oba Oloyede Adekoya Akinghare II, must be formally addressed as “His Royal Majesty” at all times.

According to the statement, the palace has observed an increasing trend of individuals addressing the monarch with casual terms such as “bro” or “blood,” often under the guise of familiarity. The palace described such behaviour as unacceptable and a direct affront to the dignity of the throne.

The statement stressed that the monarch’s youthful age does not diminish his status or authority as a traditional ruler, adding that any deliberate attempt to undermine the institution of the monarchy would no longer be tolerated.

The palace further warned that appropriate measures would be taken against anyone who continues to show disrespect to the king.

It also called on the public, particularly members of the Yoruba community, to uphold cultural values, respect tradition, and recognise the importance of honouring constituted authority.
