Ghanaian police have uncovered and dismantled a prostitution and human trafficking ring operating in New Juaben South, leading to the arrest of 15 suspects.
According to the Eastern Regional Police Command, those arrested include 12 Nigerians, one Ghanaian national, as well as the landlord of the property and a bouncer believed to be aiding the operation. The arrests followed complaints from several women who alleged they were trafficked and forced into prostitution under strict daily financial quotas.
Confirming the development, Police Superintendent Ransford Nsiah said the suspects, aged between 15 and 32 years, are currently in custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
“One of the persons arrested is a minor. She has been separated from the others and placed under protective care, in line with child welfare regulations,” Nsiah stated.
The police also issued a strong warning to property owners, urging them to be vigilant about how their premises are used. Authorities cautioned that landlords who knowingly or negligently allow their properties to be used for criminal activities will face the full weight of the law.
Investigations into the network are ongoing as police work to identify additional victims and possible collaborators.
