FULL GIST: King Mitchy vs VeryDarkMan — How a School Renovation Sparked One of Nigeria's Biggest Online Wars

If you have been anywhere near Nigerian social media in the last few days, then you already know something wild has been going on between Instagram philanthropist King Mitchy and popular activist and NGO founder VeryDarkMan. What started as a seemingly unprovoked jab quickly snowballed into one of the most talked-about online confrontations Nigeria has seen this year — and it ended in tragedy.

Here is the full breakdown, from the very beginning to the heartbreaking end.

It Started With a School Renovation

A few days ago, King Mitchy posted a video showing what she described as the renovation of a public school, completed in just six days. Nigerians celebrated her. The comments section was full of praise, and she was hailed as a true grassroots philanthropist doing what the government had failed to do.

Then, out of nowhere, she turned her attention to VeryDarkMan.

Mitchy Goes After VeryDarkMan

On her Instagram story, Mitchy went in on VeryDarkMan, telling him to "get to work" and stop talking about people who did not matter, like Mirabel and Harrison. She called him "werey" and questioned what exactly he had been doing with the NGO funds sitting in his account, while she had used only six days to fix up an entire school.

Her challenge was direct: "Give me ₦50 million and I will renovate four schools."

VeryDarkMan Fires Back

VeryDarkMan said he was caught completely off guard. He claimed he had never spoken about Mitchy before, except one instance where she had dropped a comment under his post accusing OAP Nedu of asking her to perform a sexual act on him. He called her attack a political move.

But he was not backing down. He accepted her challenge and agreed to give her the ₦50 million — on one condition: she must renovate four schools using only that amount.

He then dropped the bombshell that many suspected but few had said openly: King Mitchy, he alleged, is a political tool being funded by Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. None of the philanthropic work she was getting credit for, he claimed, was coming from her own pocket.

The Seyi Tinubu Allegations

VeryDarkMan got specific. He alleged that Seyi Tinubu gave Mitchy ₦10 million in 2023, then followed it up with ₦15 million to fund her humanitarian work and school projects. His point was simple: if Seyi Tinubu genuinely cared about schools, he should be talking to his father to summon the Minister of Education to do his job — not quietly funding content creators to do PR work for the government.

He then made a shocking personal revelation: when he was arrested by the EFCC, it was Seyi Tinubu who secured his release and reached out to him about working together. VeryDarkMan said he turned the offer down. He also claimed he was offered ₦600 million by the APC movement to join their camp, and rejected that too.

"I will never sell my soul for money," he said.

Mitchy Brings in the Ooni of Ife

While VeryDarkMan was releasing video after video, Mitchy took a different approach. She posted a screenshot of a chat between herself and the Ooni of Ife, the revered monarch, showing him texting her directly. She referred to him casually as "this king" and used the screenshot to suggest she moved in circles far above VeryDarkMan's reach.

"Even the Ooni of Ife had to find my number to text me," she said. The flex was clearly aimed at showing she was operating on a level he could not touch.

Tears, a Giveaway, and More Allegations

When the public did not respond the way she hoped — with many people continuing to drag her — Mitchy broke down in tears on camera, saying she had done so much for people and no one was standing up for her. She said she was being insulted simply for telling VeryDarkMan to get to work.

She then announced a ₦1 million giveaway on her page, a move that many online observers read as an attempt to buy goodwill. It did not work. The insults kept coming, largely from VeryDarkMan's Ratel community.

Mitchy, clearly shaken, began posting and deleting content, including a post accusing VeryDarkMan of having previously clashed with Tonto Dikeh, Iyabo Ojo, and Nkechi Blessing, among other women in entertainment. She reminded him she was not scared of him, then deleted the post shortly after.

VeryDarkMan simply said he understood why she found it hard to respect him — she had a king in her DMs fighting for her attention.

Carter Efe, Leaked Chats, and the School Controversy

Things got messier. VeryDarkMan released a clip of Mitchy on Carter Efe's livestream where she allegedly claimed Seyi Tinubu had given her over ₦100 million. Mitchy quickly denied it, saying the whole thing was planned content she and Carter Efe created just to trend at the time. Carter Efe then released his own video — on his knees — begging Mitchy not to implicate him, saying no such arrangement ever existed.

VeryDarkMan also shared a screenshot of a conversation between Mitchy and Koko Pee, a friend of his. In the leaked chat, Mitchy reportedly sent a conversation she claimed to have had with Seyi Tinubu, admitted she was scared of VeryDarkMan, and said she was trying to settle the situation. She reportedly told Koko Pee that "what was coming for VDM was heavy."

VeryDarkMan said his life was being threatened and stated clearly: if anything happened to him, Seyi Tinubu and King Mitchy should be held responsible.

Then came the school visit. A content creator named Livinus went to the school Mitchy had claimed she renovated in six days and released a 20-minute video documenting what he found. The results were underwhelming — a few replaced windows, but no significant renovation visible to the naked eye. The video caused widespread doubt about the scale of Mitchy's philanthropic claims.

Mitchy responded by posting payment receipts and insisting she had already paid for 90 windows. She said proper work would begin on Monday and told VeryDarkMan, who had promised to visit, not to come and offer to pay for anything. She had already sorted it out.

The Ooni Apology

Mitchy later apologized to the Ooni of Ife, saying she had not fully appreciated the weight of his position and asked for his forgiveness. However, the apology came across poorly to many viewers — she appeared unbothered, and was visibly eating while she spoke. For many Nigerians, that was simply unacceptable when addressing a traditional ruler of his status.

The Tragic End

Unable to handle the mounting pressure — the online dragging, the takedown of her business page by Ratel, the Livinus video, the leaked chats — Mitchy went live on TikTok. She was visibly distressed and in tears. During the live session, she reportedly held two bottles of Hypo bleach, looked directly into the camera, and drank from the first bottle. Her assistant rushed in and stopped her before she could drink the second. She then passed out and was rushed to the hospital.

VeryDarkMan, upon seeing the live video, made a chilling response. He opened a bottle of Hypo on camera and drank from it himself before his assistant intervened and stopped him.

Neither of them survived.

King Mitchy's management released a statement confirming she had passed away. VeryDarkMan's team followed with their own announcement. He too was gone.

Nigerians are currently in mourning, with tributes and prayers pouring in across social media. Two people who, whatever their differences, dedicated their public lives to helping others, are now gone.

May the souls of King Mitchy and VeryDarkMan rest in perfect peace. 🕊️
