“This Is Blackmail”: Charles Ogbu Calls Out Chukwudi Iwuchukwu Over Repeated Attacks on Igbo Businessmen

A strongly worded open letter circulating on Facebook has sparked fresh debate within the Igbo online community, as social commentator Charles Ogbu directly addresses media personality Chukwudi Iwuchukwu over what he describes as a troubling pattern of public accusations and selective outrage. Framed as personal advice rather than a call-out, the message challenges Iwuchukwu’s use of public sentiment to target certain Igbo businessmen, raising questions about consistency, motive, and the broader implications of such narratives on individuals and businesses alike.

Dear Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, this post is not a call out. It is a sincere advice from a young man to another young man. It is in your best interest to heed it.

Please, stop riding on public sentiment to blackmail people especially Igbo businessmen you have grudges against. This has since become a pattern with you and although many people may not have noticed but I’m certain that there are still those who are able to look beyond public sentiment and decode your game.

The other day, you hid behind public Igbo sentiment against our people showing off unnecessarily, to pick on Obi Jackson, the Okija businessmen. In that article, you described Obi Jackson as a serial debtor who borrows money from bank to share rice to his village people but couldn’t share rice last December because the banks stopped lending him money. Even when many people from Okija were on that your post telling you that he shared rice last Christmas but kept it low-key because of the tragedy that happened two years ago during similar rice sharing, you refused to edit your post to reflect that.

When are you going to be bold enough to tell the public the real reason you always single out Obi Cubana for attack and character assassination??

You attack Obi Cubana - a showbiz man - for showing off but the same you worship Tony Elumelu who owns a bank that manages public funds, for the same show-off. How??

When the story of the alleged ‘Dubai Prince’ broke out, we saw him in a photograph with our no1 police officer, the I.G of police, a sitting governor and wife of the ex president amongst others but you singled out the picture the guy took with Obi Cubana and started insinuating some dirty stuff as if it is now the job of a night club owner to investigate someone’s source of income  before taking picture with them instead of the police.

On many occasions, you’ve alleged that Obi Cubana and one other guy - Enviable Transport - that is into Keke hire purchase, are running a Ponzi Scheme. You’ve continued to make this allegation even when those who have keyed into the keke business were always on your post telling you the business is not Ponzi.

Now, you have just made an outrageous post telling the public to boycott Obi Cubana’s business for supporting Tinubu. Your paddy - Tony Elumelu not only supported Tinubu in 2023, he was the very first Nigerian to send Tinubu a congratulatory message after the most fraudulent election heist in Nigerian history. Tinubu, in turn, visited him immediately after the election. And Tony still openly supports Tinubu till tomorrow. Why are you not calling for the boycott of Tony’s business if this is solely about support for Tinubu? You didn’t say anything about Zenco who acquired brand new buses for the so-called City Boy movement. You didn’t say anything about your own uncle who is a coordinator of the City boy movement. I know of your other very closed friends who are Tinubu supporters but you singled out Obi Cubana. And I ask, when will this blackmail end? The irony is that you yourself have never supported Peter Obi. You’ve always been an unapologetic Atiku boy. So on what justifiable grounds are you singling out Obi Cubana’s business for boycott over Tinubu’s support??

Mr. Elumelu supports you financially, sends you money and invites you to his white party. And for these, you worship and celebrate him while dragging Obi Cubana, Obi Jackson and others. Does that not suggest that if any Tinubu agent as much as winks at your side, you will quickly be his vuvuzela??? My brother, what you are doing is pure BLACKMAIL. And it is wrong!

To be clear, I don’t know Obi Cubana or Obi Jackson on a personal level. Never met any of them, even. But I don’t need to have met them to know that this your game of hiding behind public sentiment to run down your own people and their businesses while deceiving the public that you are merely acting in good fate, is evil and it might hunt you tomorrow.
