Tragedy in Delta: Father Stabs Son to Death For Renting Apartment For His Mother

In a heartbreaking incident that has left the Osubi community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State shocked, a man identified as Iseleto has allegedly stabbed his 23-year-old son, Miracle, to death. The gruesome act reportedly stemmed from a family dispute after Miracle rented a separate apartment for his mother in an attempt to protect her from ongoing domestic violence.

According to reports from local sources, the tension in the family had been building for some time. Miracle, described by neighbors as a caring and responsible young man, decided to intervene in his parents' troubled marriage by securing a safe space for his mother away from the alleged abuse. This move, however, enraged his father, leading to a fatal confrontation.

Eyewitness accounts suggest that Iseleto lured his son into a nearby bush under false pretenses before attacking him with a knife. The young man succumbed to his injuries on the spot, sending shockwaves through the community. Police have confirmed the incident and launched a manhunt for Iseleto, who fled the scene immediately after the crime.

"This is unimaginable," said a resident who spoke to ReportNaija on condition of anonymity. "How can a father turn on his own flesh and blood like this? The boy was just trying to do right by his mother."

Domestic violence remains a pervasive issue in many Nigerian households, and this tragedy highlights the desperate measures some family members take to escape it. Advocacy groups are calling for increased awareness and support systems to prevent such escalations.

The Delta State Police Command has urged anyone with information on Iseleto's whereabouts to come forward. Investigations are ongoing, and the community mourns the loss of a promising young life cut short by familial strife.

ReportNaija will continue to follow this story as more details emerge. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, reach out to local authorities or organizations like the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency for help.
