Full List: Tinubu Assigns 65 Ambassadors to Countries, United Nations

 


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the official posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s foreign missions and the United Nations, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s diplomatic presence across the world.

The list comprises 31 non-career ambassadors and 34 career diplomats who were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.

According to the details released, several political figures and public office holders were assigned to strategic missions across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Among the notable postings, Senator Grace Bent was assigned to Lome, Togo, while former presidential aide Senator Ita Enang will represent Nigeria in South Africa. Former Abia State Governor Victor Ikpeazu was posted to Spain, while media personality Reno Omokri was appointed as Nigeria’s envoy to Mexico.

Other prominent appointments include former Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, who will serve as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Canada; former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, posted to Germany; and Jimoh Ibrahim, who will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Former National Security Adviser, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (rtd), was posted to China, while former Lagos Deputy Governor Olufemi Pedro will represent Nigeria in Australia. Lateef Kayode Are was appointed ambassador to the United States, while Ambassador Joseph Sola Iji will serve in Russia.

Additional non-career postings include Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom, Ayodele Oke to France, Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia, and Senator Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea.

Alongside the political appointees, the President also approved the deployment of 34 career diplomats to various missions worldwide. These include Ambassador Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, and Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal.

Other career diplomats include Ambassador Shehu Ilu Barde to Ghana, Ambassador Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia, Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya, Ambassador Haidara Mohammed Idris to the Netherlands, and Ambassador Bako Adamu Umar to Morocco.

Further postings include Ambassador Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel to Belgium, Ambassador Akande Wahab Adekola to Switzerland, Ambassador Esther Arewa to Namibia, and Ambassador Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru to Thailand.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the United Kingdom has already granted agrément for Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu as Nigeria’s High Commissioner. France has also issued agrément for Ambassador Ayodele Oke.

The ministry added that nominations of the remaining ambassadors-designate have been forwarded to their respective host countries, alongside formal requests for agrément in accordance with established diplomatic procedures.

President Tinubu has also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin the induction programme for the newly appointed ambassadors and High Commissioners ahead of their deployment to their respective missions.
