Nigerian Army Arrests Two Suspected Gunrunners, Recovers 444 Rounds of Ammunition in Taraba

 



Troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested two individuals suspected to be involved in illegal arms trafficking during a stop-and-search operation along the Wukari–Ikyaior Road in Taraba State.

According to military sources, the operation led to the recovery of 444 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition concealed by the suspects. The interception is part of ongoing security efforts aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons and addressing criminal activities in the region.

The suspects are currently in military custody, where preliminary investigations are underway to ascertain the origin of the ammunition and its intended destination.

The Nigerian Army, while commending the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the country. Authorities also assured the public that operations to dismantle criminal networks and restore lasting peace in affected areas will continue unabated.
