Abia Gov Alex Otti Drops Bold Call: Make Room for Women in State Assembly Ahead of 2027 – “Even 4 Out of 24 is Better Than Zero!

Abia people, Governor Alex Otti is pushing for real change in the House of Assembly! While addressing the issue of women’s representation, the governor has called on the State House of Assembly to create space for more female lawmakers before the 2027 elections. He suggested two clear options: either create additional constituencies or have some male lawmakers voluntarily step down to allow women in. “We need to find some women in the House… even if we start with 4 out of 24, that would be better than zero,” Otti said. The governor also urged women across Abia to unite, get actively involved in politics, and take up the challenge. This is the first time a sitting governor in Abia is making such a direct and public push for increased female participation at the state assembly level. Abia, are we finally about to see more women in the hallowed chambers? The conversation has started. We’ll keep you updated as this story develops.
