Edo Govt Seals Mega Hub After Eedris Abdulkareem Dragged Tinubu Live on Stage – Then Unseals It?

Edo people, this matter is getting spicy! The Edo State Government has sealed the popular Mega Hub event centre in Benin after popular rapper Eedris Abdulkareem performed there and openly criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration during the ‘Mega Rave: A night with the legends’ party on April 3. In a video that has since gone viral, Eedris paused his performance and went in hard on the President. He mocked Tinubu for failing to visit the scene of the recent massacre in Gari Yawaye, Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, despite heavy security. The rapper called him “the worst president in the country,” blamed him for the current economic hardship, and warned that anyone still supporting Tinubu and the APC will “suffer for their wrong choice.” Just four days later, on Tuesday April 7, officials from the Edo State Government sealed the Mega Hub. A video showed the entrance barricaded with red tape and a notice reading “Sealed by EDSG 7/4/26.” Many are linking the swift sealing directly to Eedris’ comments, especially since Governor Monday Okpebholo (also APC) has repeatedly vowed to deliver Edo State for Tinubu in 2027 and even said he would resign if Tinubu doesn’t win. **Edo Govt’s Reaction** When contacted, Commissioner for Information Kassim Afegbua first claimed he didn’t know about the sealing. But when pressed, he admitted it happened — but insisted it was due to a “security issue” and had “nothing to do with anybody criticising him (Tinubu).” He then added that the centre has already been unsealed and the owners are back to business. When asked exactly when it was unsealed, the commissioner simply said “Go there and confirm yourself” before ending the call. Na wa o. One minute sealed, next minute open again? Edo, make una dey observe. Is this really about security or about protecting the President’s image ahead of 2027? We’re watching this one closely. Drop your thoughts below.
