Iyabo Obasanjo Denies Using 2027 Ogun Governorship Bid as Political Bargaining Tool

Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has dismissed reports suggesting that her 2027 governorship ambition in Ogun State is a strategic move to secure a deputy governor or ministerial position.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant described the claims as unfounded, stressing that her focus remains firmly on becoming the governor of Ogun State.

“No Hidden Agenda”

Obasanjo stated that her campaign is not driven by financial influence or political negotiations, but rather by grassroots support and goodwill from the people.

She maintained that her intention is clear and straightforward, noting that she is not involved in any form of political bargaining to trade her ambition for another position.

Commitment Beyond Politics

The former senator also highlighted that she remains professionally active outside the political space. According to her, this independence allows her to pursue her political goals without undue pressure or reliance on political deals.

She added that regardless of the outcome of the 2027 governorship race, she will continue to remain engaged within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and contribute to the party’s growth.

Looking Ahead

Obasanjo reiterated her commitment to Ogun State, expressing confidence in her vision and the level of support she has garnered so far.

Her comments come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, as aspirants begin to clarify their intentions and positions within their respective parties.
