Otti Unveils Plan for 250-Room Five-Star Hotel in Umuahia

Governor Alex Otti has revealed that plans are at an advanced stage for the construction of a 250-room five-star hotel in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, as part of efforts to boost tourism and economic activity.

The governor disclosed that a suitable site has already been identified for the project, while discussions with potential partners are nearing completion. He added that a formal agreement is expected to be signed soon, paving the way for a groundbreaking ceremony.

According to Otti, the proposed hotel development is designed to position Umuahia as a more attractive destination for investors, business travellers, and tourists, while also stimulating commercial growth within the city.

The hotel project forms part of the administration’s wider infrastructure and urban renewal agenda. Otti highlighted ongoing efforts to upgrade key public facilities, including the Umuahia Township Stadium and the Amachara Specialist Hospital.

He stressed that his government remains committed to delivering projects that are not only initiated but completed to standard, noting that visible progress is already being made across different sectors.

Governor Otti acknowledged that the transformation of Umuahia is still in its early phases but maintained that the direction is clear and results-driven.

He reiterated that the administration’s priority is to implement impactful projects capable of improving the state’s economic outlook, creating jobs, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.

The planned five-star hotel is expected to serve as a major catalyst in redefining Umuahia’s hospitality landscape, should the project proceed as outlined.
