Police Arrest Two Suspected Cultists in Ondo, Recover Firearm

The Nigeria Police Force in Ondo State has arrested two suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation in Ondo Town, recovering a locally made pistol believed to be linked to cult-related violence in the area.

According to police authorities, the suspects are associated with rival cult groups and are alleged to have played roles in a recent clash that disrupted activities around a tertiary institution in the town.

The Command disclosed that the arrests were made following actionable intelligence, which led operatives to the suspects’ location. During the operation, a firearm was recovered, further strengthening suspicions of their involvement in violent activities.

Police authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend other members of the groups who reportedly fled the scene.

The Command also noted that steps are being taken to recover additional weapons and prevent further escalation of violence in the area.

The development comes amid renewed concerns over cult-related clashes in parts of Ondo State, particularly around higher institutions. Authorities have reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining law and order, while urging the public to provide useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.
