Fresh insecurity has been reported in parts of Kaduna State as suspected “repentant” bandits allegedly killed a commercial driver and abducted nine other persons in two separate attacks along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road and in a community within Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
According to reports, the armed men first attacked commuters travelling along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road, where a commercial driver was reportedly shot dead during the incident. Several passengers were said to have been whisked away by the attackers.
In a separate attack within a village in Birnin Gwari LGA, additional residents were allegedly abducted, bringing the total number of kidnapped victims to nine.
The latest incidents have once again raised concerns among residents over the security situation in the area, despite ongoing efforts by security agencies and government authorities to curb banditry and kidnapping across the state.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not released an official statement regarding the attacks, while efforts to rescue the abducted victims were reportedly ongoing.
