VeryDarkMan warns thugs hired to disrupt protests

Days after a protest in Ibadan, Oyo State, social media activist VeryDarkMan has spoken about the demonstration, which was organised to demand action over rising insecurity and the reported k!dnapping of school students and teachers in the state.

The protest, held earlier in the week, drew attention to concerns over security challenges and calls for government intervention. VDM said the demonstration was aimed at pressing authorities to respond to cases of abduction and insecurity affecting residents.

Days after the protest, VeryDarkMan recounted what he described as events during the demonstration, alleging that the protest was disrupted by individuals he referred to as thugs.

“We were a.ttacked by armed thugs who shot at us and threw bottles and other objects,” he said.

He further claimed that the situation forced protesters to seek safety and take protective measures during the incident.

“In Oyo State, thugs were allegedly sent after us. We had to quickly take cover in the nearest shop and buy some things for means of protection to defend ourselves,” he stated.

He maintained that the protest was not politically motivated but focused on insecurity and the welfare of k!dnapped victims and of every Nigerian.

“We are not political tools or agents of any party; we are simply demanding good governance, improved security for citizens, and the release of kidnapped victims in Oyo State,” he said.

In a strongly worded warning included in his statement, he added:

“Any thug sent to obstruct protest after the Ibadan incident, WE WILL KPAI HIM.

If we go to any state to protest peacefully and we are again attacked or obstructed in the way that happened in Ibadan, we will be forced to defend ourselves in an unfriendly manner. WE GO KPAI YOU.”

He also cautioned against further interference, saying:

“I’m advising you, do not let this occur again, else…”
