Before giving advice to anyone else, Ubi Franklin says he has had to be honest with himself about some of the choices he made in his own life.
In a video he posted online, the businessman shared a personal message for young men, urging them to think carefully before having children with different women.
Drawing from his own experience, he explained that while many people focus on whether a man can financially provide for his children, there is another side of the situation that often gets overlooked.
According to him, the real difficulty is managing relationships with different mothers over the years. He said that part can become far more complicated than many people expect.
Ubi said, “One of the worst decisions you can make as a man is having children with different women.”
He went on to encourage young men not to put themselves in situations where they have to deal with what is commonly referred to as “baby mama drama.”
Although he said he has been fortunate in how things have worked out for him, he acknowledged that not everyone will have the same experience.
Ubi also made it clear that his comments were not about regretting his children.
Instead, he described children as one of life’s greatest blessings.
His point was that, it is better for them to be raised within one family and with one mother rather than numerous baby mamas.
Looking back, he admitted that he wishes he had handled that part of his life differently.
He said he hopes younger men can learn from his experience and make thoughtful decisions when it comes to relationships, family and parenthood.
Ubi’s comments come from personal experience as a father of four children, each from a different relationship.
During his marriage to actress Lilian Esoro, the former couple welcomed their son, Jayden. He is also father to a daughter, Zaneta, from an earlier relationship with a woman from Kogi State’s Igala ethnic group. He later had another daughter, Ariella, with entrepreneur Sandra Iheuwa, before welcoming his youngest son, Shiloh, with South African mother Nicole Siyo.
By sharing his own story, Ubi said his goal is simply to help younger men avoid mistakes he believes could make family life more complicated in the future.
