A Nigerian woman identified as Joy has accused a man she met online of physically assaulting and raping her during what she described as their first private meeting.
According to Joy, she first came in contact with the man, identified as Prince Chukwu, after he sent her a direct message on TikTok, where she regularly shares content. She said their conversations gradually developed, and he became persistent in his efforts to win her over, often visiting her workplace and pleading with her to give him a chance.
Joy, who described herself as an orphan struggling to make ends meet, alleged that Chukwu also attempted to visit her home on one occasion after calling to say he was nearby and wanted to prove his intentions were genuine.
She claimed that he later invited her to spend time with him and some of his friends. According to her, the outing went well until he suggested they continue their conversation at his residence around 11 p.m.
Joy said she initially declined because she was not ready to have sex with him. However, she alleged that he repeatedly assured her he only wanted to have a private conversation and had no intention of being intimate with her.
Trusting his assurances, she agreed to accompany him to his house.
According to Joy, everything changed after they arrived. She alleged that Chukwu began making unwanted advances despite his earlier promise. When she reminded him of what he had told her, she claimed he responded by saying, "A woman who loves a man will open her legs for him."
She further alleged that after refusing his advances, he demanded that she refund the money spent during their outing, which she estimated at ₦15,000. Joy said she explained that she did not have the money and attempted to call a friend for help, but Chukwu allegedly seized her phone and began assaulting her.
Joy claimed the assault escalated into rape and that she was repeatedly punched in the face, leaving her with visible injuries. She also alleged that her cries for help went unanswered because no one could hear her.
She further claimed that the suspect later produced a knife and threatened to kill her if she resisted.
Joy said she eventually managed to leave the house and sought immediate medical attention, where she underwent a medical examination. She is now calling on the relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served, alleging that the accused appears to be influential.
As of the time of filing this report, Prince Chukwu has not publicly responded to the allegations, and law enforcement authorities have not released an official statement on the case.
