A 40-year-old businessman from Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has died after allegedly taking his own life following the collapse of a business venture reportedly funded with a ₦1.8 million loan.
The incident reportedly occurred on August 26, when the man allegedly ingested Sniper, a pesticide, after struggling to repay the loan.
According to reports circulating online, the failed business left him overwhelmed by debt and unable to meet his repayment obligations.
His wife reportedly discovered his body the following day and was said to have fainted upon seeing him.
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the incident, although authorities said they were unable to establish the motive behind the alleged suicide.
The development has generated reactions on social media, with sympathisers expressing condolences to the deceased’s family and calling for greater support for people facing severe financial difficulties.
