The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars and credentials of candidates contesting for the offices of President, Vice President, Senate, and House of Representatives ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The publication was carried out simultaneously across INEC offices nationwide in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, allowing members of the public to inspect the information and documents submitted by candidates seeking elective positions.
Among the documents released are the personal particulars submitted by the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The publication of candidates' particulars forms a crucial part of Nigeria's electoral process, providing an opportunity for citizens and interested parties to examine the credentials of candidates and, where necessary, challenge any information through the appropriate legal channels.
INEC stated that the exercise is designed to promote transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the electoral process by ensuring that candidates' submitted documents are available for public scrutiny before the elections.
The commission also urged Nigerians to take advantage of the publication period to verify the credentials and personal details of candidates contesting various elective offices across the country.
