Singer Vanessa Blanca Dies at 30 After Accidental Fall in Bathroom

 

Filipina singer Vanessa Blanca, who rose to fame as a member of GMA’s Sugarpop before building a successful solo career, has died at the age of 30 following an accidental fall.

Blanca, who was also known for her hit song Dota o Ako, died on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after reportedly suffering a severe head injury at the condominium where she was staying in Manila.

The news of her death was announced by her cousin, Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag, in an emotional Facebook post mourning the singer.

Jubelag described Vanessa as her beloved first cousin and little sister and asked the public to respect the privacy of the family as they come to terms with the loss.

According to a separate statement shared by the family, Vanessa reportedly tripped and fell while getting changed in the bathroom. She hit her head in the process and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury that resulted in an internal brain hemorrhage.

The statement said efforts were made to get emergency medical assistance, but help reportedly did not arrive within 15 minutes.

Her companions then rushed her to the hospital in a wheelchair, where medical personnel attended to her. Sadly, her injuries were too severe and she later died.

The circumstances surrounding her death have left fans and fellow entertainers mourning the sudden loss of the 30-year-old performer.

Vanessa first gained public attention after appearing on the television programme Pop Star Kids before becoming part of Sugarpop, a group that also featured Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario and Cholo Bismonte.

She later pursued a solo career and gained further recognition with her music, including the popular song Dota o Ako.

Following news of her passing, her former Sugarpop bandmates joined numerous fans and colleagues in paying tribute to the singer. They also shared information about her wake and obituary on their respective social media pages.

Vanessa’s death has left her family, friends, former bandmates and fans grieving the loss of a young performer whose career began at an early age.
